How to Create a Group on Instagram (Mobile & Desktop)

Creating a group on Instagram helps you chat with multiple people at once, making it easier to share messages, posts, and reels with friends or team members. Whether you are using a mobile phone or desktop, the process is simple and quick.

On Mobile (Android or iOS):

1. Open Instagram App
   Launch the Instagram app and log in to your account.
2. Tap the Messenger Icon
   You’ll find it at the top right corner of your home feed.
3. Start a New Chat
   Tap the pencil icon or “New Message” option.
4. Select Multiple People
   Choose the friends you want to add to the group (at least two).
5. Tap ‘Chat’ or ‘Next’
   After selecting, tap “Chat” to create the group.
6. Send a Message
   Once the group is created, type and send a message to start the conversation.
7. Name the Group (Optional)
   Tap the group name at the top and select “Edit” to rename the group chat.

On Desktop (Web Version):

1. Go to instagram.com
   Log in to your account.
2. Click on the Messenger Icon
   Found at the top right corner.
3. Start New Message
   Click on the pencil icon to begin a new conversation.
4. Select Multiple Users
   Choose the people you want in the group and click “Next.”
5. Send a Message
   This will create the group chat automatically.
6. Rename the Group (Optional)
   Click the “i” icon in the top right of the chat, then click “Name this group” to set a custom name.

Tips:

• You can send text, voice notes, images, reels, and posts in a group.
• Group admins can control who joins or leaves the group.
• You can mute notifications if needed.
